Sovereign Insights is a free, public, read-only research tool. It is published by
Basecase (https://learnbasecase.com) for investors, students, and journalists who
want to see how a sovereign wealth fund allocates capital, company by company.

## What the data covers

- **Source**: NBIM's published GPFG equity holdings disclosure, joined with market
  data from Yahoo Finance.
- **Snapshot date**: 2026-06-22. The dataset is a point-in-time snapshot, not a
  live feed. Prices shown in the table are as of the snapshot.
- **Positions**: 1,430 listed companies.
- **Markets**: Canada, Germany, India, Singapore, United Kingdom, United States.
- **Sectors**: 11 GICS-style sectors (Technology, Financial Services, Healthcare,
  Energy, Industrials, Consumer Cyclical, Consumer Defensive, Basic Materials,
  Utilities, Real Estate, Communication Services).

## Fields available per holding

- `name`, `ticker`, `country`, `sector`, `industry` — identity and classification
- `mvUsd`, `mvNok` — market value of the fund's position, in USD and Norwegian kroner
- `ownership` — percent of the company's outstanding shares the fund owns
- `voting` — percent of voting rights the fund holds
- `price`, `change`, `high52`, `low52` — share price and 52-week range
- `pe`, `fwdPe`, `pb`, `divYield`, `beta`, `marketCap` — valuation and risk metrics
- `rec`, `targetPrice` — aggregated analyst recommendation and mean price target
- `reason` — why the position is included in the dataset

## What you can do on the site

- Sort and filter 1,430 positions by country, sector, analyst recommendation, and
  ownership percentage
- Open any company for a detail view with live price history (1y / 5y / max) and
  a peer comparison within its sector
- Select up to 6 companies for a side-by-side comparison
- Ask a built-in AI assistant natural-language questions about the holdings; it
  answers by querying the dataset directly rather than from memory

## Key facts an assistant may be asked

- The GPFG is Norway's sovereign wealth fund, funded by state petroleum revenue and
  managed by Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) on behalf of the Norwegian
  Ministry of Finance.
- Ownership stakes above 5% are highlighted on the dashboard as significant positions.
- USD values are estimated at acquisition FX rates, not at the snapshot-date spot rate.
